European Union closer to Wielkopolska
March – May 2007, Witaszyce 4th European Contest ‘Do you know EU countries?’ The contest was organised by the School European Club „Joy” at the Primary School in Witaszyce. The contest was addressed to students from classes 1-3 and 4-6. MEP Jan Kułakowski was one of the sponsors of the prizes for the contest’s finalists.
12th – 21st April 2007, Mikuszewo Training course: „Culture animation in social inclusion projects- how to organise an effective exchange with disadvanteged youth”. In the training course organised by the Association Horyzonty YEU Poland 25 participants from 9 countries (Cyprus, Esonia, Spain, Lituania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Italy) took part. The youth exchange took place between 12th- 21st April 2007 in International Youth Meeting House in Mikuszewo. After the event the publication with materials from the workshop was issued. 11th April 2007, Poznań The second edition of the workshop „Contacts with media and the basis of public presentations” was held in Poznań and was organised by Jan Kułakowski’s Poznań office and Foundation for the Development of Local Democracy in Poznań. The workshop was aimed at NGOs, student organisations and local governements. During the workshop the details of contacts with the media were presented.
29th – 30th March 2007, Konin The Final of the 12th Polish Nationwide Tournament of Knowledge and Skills in Trade and Management in Konin Tournament was organised by Zespół Szkół Centrum Kształcenia Ustawicznego im. Stefana Batorego in Konin. The theme of 12th Tournament’s eddition was „Chances for functioning and development of trade companies in the light of tax system”. MEP Jan Kułakowski funded the prizes (books) for the Tournament’s finalists.
15th March 2007, a workshop „Contacts with media and the basis of public presentations” was held in Poznań in cooperation with Foundation for the Development of Local Democracy in Poznań. The workshop was addressed to NGOs, student organisations and local governments.
14th March 2007 Open workshop „Traineeships in the EU Institutions” in Poznań Open workshop, which took place on 14th March 2007 at the School of Humanities and Journalism in Poznań was organised by The Polish Forum of Young Diplomats under the patronage of Jan Kułakowski, member of European Parliament. On 6th March 2007 the exhibition of the finalists’ and prize winners’ photographs from the Wielkopolska region of the contest “European Union in my lens” was opened in Konin. The contest was organised in October 2006 by the MEP Jan Kułakowski Office. The exhibition was staged in the Public City Library in Konin, 2 Mickiewicza Street (Syanagogue). The exhibition will be opened until 31st March 2007.
On 6th March 2007 an open lecture „Strucural funds in the years 2007-2013” was held in Konin. The lecture was organised by MEP Jan Kułakowski’s offices in Poznań and in Konin in the cooperation with Foundation for the Development of Local Democracy in Poznań. During the lecture the rules of applying for the structural founds in the years 2007-2013 were presented. The workshop was attended by 60 participants. A similar lecture will take place in Poznań on 20th April 2007.
On 21st February 2007 member of the European Parliament Jan Kułakowski attended the meeting of the MEPs from the Wielkopolska region with the President of Poznań Ryszard Grobelny. During the meeting important issues of using the EU funds and the ideas concerning promotion of the city of Poznań has been discussed. Vice-President of the European Parliament Marek Siwiec (SLD), MEP Jan Masiel (Samoobrona) and the representatives of the City of Poznań Office were also present at the meeting.
20th February 2007, MEP Jan Kułakowski met young people from XVI Secondary School in Poznań. During the meeting students have conducted an interview with MEP Jan Kułakowski as a part of the youth exchange Commenius programme. Students’ questions concerned the history of the European Union, eurodeputy’s actions for Wielkopolska and his activity in the European Parliament.
20th February 2007, MEP Jan Kułakowski has taken part in the Democratic Party meeting. During the meeting current matters has been discussed. MEP Jan Kułakowski has commented on the statement issued by Polish eurodeputies concerning MEP M. Giertch’s brochure and the report on the alleged illegal CIA activities in Europe.
January 2007 The Office of Jan Kulakowski aims at enabling young people to get acquainted with the EU topics, therefore, the Middle Schools and High Schools in Wielkopolska region have been asked to order broshures, leaflets and EU-related informative booklets from the Office of Jan Kulakowski in Poznan.
14-16 January 2007 The Barka Foundation for Mutual Help has been awarded the first prize in the Global Development Network in Beijin 2007, for the "Best innovative project for development". Find out more..
19 December 2006, "From an idea to a project" workshop Jan Kułakowski, MEP invited the local members of the Democratic Party (Partia Demokratyczna – demokraci.pl) and the participants of the MALL (the Local Leaders Youth Academy) initiative (Organised by FRDL – the Foundation for Development of Local Democracy) to a workshop “From an idea to a project” in Poznań. The workshop was conducted by Iwona Janicka and Anna Kieres from the regional centre of FRDL in Poznań.
16 December 2006, AEGEE Negotiation Programme Jan Kułakowski has given his patronage over the Academic Negotiator’s Tournament, which took place on 16 December 2006 in Poznań. The Academic Negotiator’s Tournament III is a cyclical event organised as part of the AEGEE NEGOTIATION PROGRAMME.

8 December 2006, Information seminar “European Parliament and its role in the EU” On 8 December 2006 in the AssemblyHall of the Academy of Economics in Poznań a European Parliament’s information seminar “the European Parliament and its role in the EU” was held. One of the seminar’s panelist was Jan Kułakowski, MEP. Among the guests of this seminar were MEPs from Wielkopolska region, experts in the the field of the European integration from the Academy of Economics and the University of Adam Mickiewicz, and the representatives of the local authorities and media.

The project “Eurostudenci.pl” has already started. This project has been given honorary patronage by the Members of the European Parliament, among others Jan Kułakowski. 24 November 2006, "Contacts with media" workshop MEP Jan Kułakowski has invited local members of the Democratic Party and Young Center Association in Wielkopolska to take part in the workshop “Contacts with media”. The workshop was held on Friday, 24 November 2006 in Poznań and it was conducted by Anna Kamińska, a political marketing and social communication expert.
10 October 2006, the Local Leaders Youth Academy (Młodziezowa Akademia Liderów Lokalnych - MALL) Jan Kułakowski, MEP has given his patronage to a youth project, which is carried out by the Foundation for Development of Local Democracy Regional Centre in Poznan.

4 – 5 November 2006, “Active citizenship in the European Union” Conference in Warsaw The conference “Active citizenship in the European Union” was organized by the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation in Warsaw. Jan Kułakowski, MEP was one of the speakers during the conference.. The conference attempted to answer questions concerning whether it has been done everything to encourage citizens to take part actively in the European social and political life and what should be done in order to stimulate a social debate in this subject.
3 October 2006, EUROREJS – local journalists visit to the European Parliament in Brussels Meetings with regional and local journalists, participants of the study visit Eurorejs were held in the European Parliament. MEP Jan Kułakowski joined in the meetings.
EU knowledge courses European Union knowledge courses had been organised by the European Integration Center at the University of Poznań.. These courses prepare participants for working in the EU institutions and are conducted in English, German and French. Find out more...
12 September 2006, A letter regarding the initiative of the “Barka” Foundation in Great Britain. MEP Jan Kułakowski addressed a letter to the Members of the European Parliament concerning the initiative of the “Barka” Foundation for Mutual Help. The initiative aims at helping unemployed Poles staying in Great Britain.

13 June 2004 - the first Polish elections to the European Parliament On 13 June 2004 in the first Polish elections to the EP Jan Kułakowski, who was elected as a leader of former Unia Wolności (today the Democrartic Party – demokraci.pl) obtained the biggest number of votes in Wielkopolska region.In the survey made by the Poznań TV and Merkury Radio and Gazeta Wyborcza this succes was perceived as one of the biggest events in Wielkopolska in 2004.
